Well it’s been about as long as I’ve ever gone without posting a mix so I am looong over due. Luckily I have something pretty special up my sleeve with a deeper style mix of tunes designed to pick you up and take you away.
New tunes from Seba & Manos, Acid_Lab, Kid Drama & Om Unit, Bungle along with a whole heap more amazing new tracks. Special shout out to the mighty Mitekiss who’s sublime track Lie Awake has been on rotation pretty much ever since it came out in our house. It is one of those tracks that ticks just about every box for me in terms of what makes D&B great.
Hope you feeling what’s on offer and I promise the next one will come a little sooner than this one did. 😉

My second mix sourcing from the ‘Is this the most beautiful D&B tune ever?’ thread on DOA features some amazingly soulful D&B tunes from the year 2000 onward. It’s been amazing fun having a bunch of like minded people program a mix for me as a lot of these tunes I have never put into a mix.
The production roster reads like a who’s who of D&B featuring legendary artists such as Omni Trio, Marcus Intalex (RIP), Klute, Calibre plus Alaska & Seba just to mention a few. Some of these tracks never made it to digital, so I had to dig deep into my vinyl collection to complete the track list.
I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did mixing this special dedication to the beauty that is D&B music.

2018 was a great year for D&B seeing the genre swing back into popularity mainly on the back of the quality of tunes being released at the moment. Original producers came out of retirement, people started to flock to D&B nights again and even the US driven bro-step scene seems to be slowly turning to D&B for more inspiration.
This mix features a lot of my favourite producers from the last 12 months such as Seba, Calibre, DKay, Alix Perez and Rockwell mixed in with a bunch of newer headz who are holding their own – producers such as Mister Shifter, Alibi and Circuits, all who have been chipping away for a few years now, are starting to come into their own in terms of being serious talents.

10 years ago today I started the Ear & Drum with the intent of delivery great music to the masses. Today I thank everyone who has supported and listened down the years with Part 1 of a 3 part series of mixes that cover off my favourite tunes from the past few years plus a special retrospective mix that looks back at beautiful music from D&B’s golden years the 90s.
Part 1 focuses on the deep and the dark tunes that have influenced the D&B landscape over the past few years. There’s plenty of anthems in here and hopefully a few lesser known tunes too just to keep it interesting.
Stay tuned over the next few days as I’ll be uploading parts 2 & 3 as an early Christmas gift and of course celebrating 10 years of the good ole Ear & Drum.
The deeper side of D&B has been on fire this year with big LPs and EPs dropping left, right and centre. And it’s looking like it isn’t going to slow down anytime soon with artists like Bop, Oliver Yorke, Alix Perez, Bungle and Kid Drama all dropping quality releases over the past few months.
A special shout out to Sunchase’s return to D&B with a the very deep and catchy Slap. And to Halogenix and Bungle for their VIP mixes of Blej and Cocooned. Both tunes being some of the most heavily played tracks of the year and deftly reworked to keep the original vibe while adding something new.
This will be my final mix for the year except for a special treat closer towards Christmas. Keep you ear to the underground for that.
It’s been an absolute age since I’ve done a mix profiling a single label, but Dutch label Scientific is definitely deserving. All the tunes you’ll find here are from their exquisite compilation series ‘Chilling on the Couch’ which as you have probably guessed are full of Chilled out D&B of the highest quality.
Scientific pull in some big names such as Bungle, Mav and Nuage but they have an impressive roster of off the radar artists too such as Mobility, Seathasky, Oscallist, PLK and Physical Illusion. Between the first 3 ‘Chilling on the Couch’ compilations there is so much wonderfully laid back D&B that I heartily encourage anyone who enjoys this mix to seek them out as this really is just scratching the surface of what this amazing label has to offer.
Halo – E X I T
Seathasky – Something More
Seathasky – Beauty Made In Small Pieces

Readsense & FlashbackFM – Take Me Away
Bungle – Concession
May & Saigon Empire – From Here to Eternity
Back once again with a chilled out D&B selection leaning heavily on the sounds of Synkro and Stillhead who have been in heavy rotation at the Ear & Drum ranch. Big ups have to go to Amoss, Etherwood and Bop who all have fresh LPs and EPs out and well worth tracking down.
This is a perfect weekend and morning after selection designed to relax and take you on a journey. No hard edges here, just smooth beats and purring b-lines to massage the mind, body and soul.
It’s been a long time between drinks for the Call the Ambience series, but finally I’ve got enough of the beautifully chilled out tracks to make up a mix.
I’ve banged on plenty about Leaf’s Groove, but it really is a track that can slot into any set including an ambient one. Shouts to Eschaton for his track Kokoro No Heiwa (Ziyan Remix), first appearing on his Icaros LP the remix by Ziyan really is something special. Also sending a holla to Aeon Waves for his Obscure EP which features heavily here. Definitely a producer I’ll be keeping an ear out for in the future. And one last call for the mighty Mitekiss who’s remixing duties on London Elektricity’s – Just One Second really is the perfect set ender.
I love this style of D&B so here’s hoping the next Call the Ambience doesn’t take as long to come around as this one did. Enjoy the chillness.

Pushing the D&B boat out into deeper waters this time around. It’s already been a great year for the deeper sound with releases like Seba’s – Node 46 EP and Clothcutter’s – Landfall EP hitting all the right notes. Extra shouts to Leaf for his super infectious tune Groove which I can’t stop putting into sets ATM and Alix Perez for the monstrously large Dark Star, deservedly one of the most played tracks of last year.
That’s enough banter from me, go and get to listening to some great new music.
Keeping the 1996 Intelligent sound alive, this is a mix of contemporary Atmospheric D&B full of deep bass and lush melodies. The Atmospheric sound has had quite a comeback in recent years and the quality of the tunes on display here explains why.
Blame is the only old school trooper represented here with newer production talent such as Greekboy, Rainforest & the mighty Eschaton picking up the Atmospheric tourch and running with it. Shouts to Cryogenics too who has just release a new LP titled Preparation For Something That Will Never Happen that is full of this lush sound if you are looking for more music like this. Well worth a listen if you can track a copy down.
